Andrews University has embarked on a journey to enhance employee training and development through the implementation of NEOED (pronounced “neo-ed”) LEARN.

The NEOED LEARN initiative emerged from Andrews University’s commitment to invest in its greatest asset—its people.

As one of five modules in the NEOED platform (INSIGHT, ONBOARD, LEARN, E-FORMS, PERFORM), LEARN is the professional development module that represents a significant leap toward enhancing workforce training. This online platform integrates with Andrews’ current Banner platform and serves as an employee learning system. It offers tools to create training sessions and access to a rich library with over 1,600 pre-built courses, while maintaining accurate data for state and federal compliance. Learning plans help ensure new hires complete required training, and managers can create customized plans for their teams or individual members, aligning professional development with both individual career goals and departmental needs.

The overarching goal of the NEOED initiative is to create a seamless, integrated experience throughout the entire employment life cycle—from recruitment and onboarding through ongoing development and performance management. The platform empowers employees to take ownership of their professional growth and provides managers with tools to support their teams effectively. By consolidating multiple Human Resources functions into one cohesive system, NEOED seeks to improve performance, increase job satisfaction, enhance retention rates and strengthen the University’s ability to serve its students and community.

The success of NEOED LEARN is already evident across the Andrews University community. Since implementation, there have been over 3,900 course completions, demonstrating strong engagement and a culture of continuous learning. This impressive participation rate showcases employees’ commitment to growth and excellence in their roles.

Andrews University envisions a campus culture where professional development becomes an integral part of every employee’s journey. Moving forward, the platform will enable the University to identify skill gaps, develop targeted training initiatives and create clear pathways for career advancement across all departments. By fostering a workforce that is continuously learning and adapting, Andrews will be better equipped to respond to the changing landscape of higher education, deliver exceptional service to students and maintain its standard of excellence.

Key Goals

  • Repurpose Admin Resources: Eliminate the administrative burden of managing and tracking training. Redirect staff efforts from tedious administrative tasks toward strategic, high-value projects that drive the organization forward.
  • Increase Learning Opportunities: Expand learning opportunities across departments and to off-site employees through online training options. Provide employees flexible, convenient access to training and professional development resources.
  • Centralize Training Records: Maintain all historical training records in one location. Track and report all training, whether in-person, online or provided by a third party, so nothing falls through the cracks.
