On September 17, Dr. Hyveth Williams, professor and director of homiletics and interim chaplain at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, was honored at Washington Adventist University (WAU) and Montgomery County’s Visionaries Gala. Williams, who received the “Excellence in Scholarship and Transformational Pastoral Service” award, was one of five individuals recognized for outstanding service to the community and the Christian church.

“It was overwhelming, unexpected,” said Williams. “When I realized that the gala was a joint event between the university and Montgomery County, and that county officials as well as Adventist conference and union officers were in attendance, it boggled my mind! I kept thinking, ‘How did I get here?’ I’m still wrestling with that feeling. The only answer I know is: God. He led me step by step. In retrospect, I see that He had a plan for my life.”

Williams, who founded and currently pastors The Grace Place in South Bend, Indiana, is a pastor and renowned preacher with over three decades of ministry experience and an educator honored at Andrews University with both the J.N. Andrews and Daniel Augsburger Excellence in Teaching awards. She is also a prolific author and former TV show host whose ministry has impacted thousands of people throughout the world.
