Explore Degrees in Mission

The Doctor of Philosophy in Religion (PhD) program prepares teacher-scholars in focused theological fields of study, primarily for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in its institutions of higher learning around the world. The area of mission focuses on cross-cultural leadership development for effective church growth, ministry, and evangelistic strategies to tackle contemporary missionary challenges.

The Doctor of Intercultural Studies (DIS) program, formerly known as the Doctor of Missiology program, equips practitioners, leaders, and trainers who minister in cross-cultural mission and ministry situations through focused study and research in theological and social-science fields of study. The program aims to enhance the level of academic mission studies in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and to facilitate more creative and effective mission practice.

The On-campus Master of Arts (Religion) Specialized is an academic program designed to prepare students for Doctoral degrees, Teaching, and as Seventh-day Adventist Church workers. The Interactive Online Master of Arts (Religion) Interdisciplinary is a program designed to prepare students for Pastoring (non NAD), Teaching and administrative church positions.

A Message from the Chair

In the ever-evolving landscape of global religiosity and cross-cultural dynamics, the Department of World Mission seeks to equip students with the intellectual insight, intercultural competence, and theological grounding essential for effective engagements in favor of the gospel. By interweaving Scripture, personal commitment, historical precedents, contemporary missiological theories, and sociological insights, our curriculum equips students with a wholistic vantage that empowers the cultivation of innovative mission and ministry strategies. Our team is resolute in its conviction that our collective endeavors and collaboration with other departments at the Seminary will continue to contribute meaningfully to the unfolding narrative of Adventist mission.
