Athlete of the Week
Tyler Bodi

If you were to take the time to sit down with Tyler Bodi, the pastor of the Class of 2011, you would find many layers to him. From the spiritual aspects of life to the sports, the social life to the classes and homework, this soccer-loving gentleman from Kalamazoo may not have the perfect balance between it all, but what he does have works just fine for him. Our Athlete of the Week had a very hard time picking just one, let alone a few, of his favorite sports to participate in. "What can I say? I like them all! I just like being active." Anything that includes both running and tactics strikes Tyler's fancy. With a distant, far-off look in his eyes, he lists off both types of soccer, badminton, racquetball, volleyball and basketball.
Although a strong fanatic about sports, Tyler is not your average jock. In a humble tone of voice, Tyler responds to the question of his best sport and how he has changed in them over the years with, "I'm not really all that fantastic at any of them...but I have become more experienced." The rush of the game and the fun he has is all that really matters. For him, it shouldn't really matter how fantastic the players are, but how they are on the field. "Sports for fun, exercise, and social interaction."

"Like any other activity in life, we can choose to live like a Christian or not. We can play like one or not." Tyler feels that the field is just another part of the athlete's life, just like the classroom is just another part of the student's life. You can fight anywhere, and while doing anything. Then again, you can always show who Christ is no matter what you are doing. It's your choice. What's yours?
