The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Andrews University is designed to offer and financially support expanded undergraduate and graduate educational opportunities to the citizens of Kenya, with a goal of helping to better equip those Kenyan citizens to help Kenya achieve its goals for the future.
Dr. Andrea Luxton, president of Andrews University, also signed the agreement, noting that “our University is committed to the idea that we must inspire each one of our students to be World Changers for a changing world. That is a powerful goal for our Andrews University graduates to meaningfully contribute to the world, wherever they live they live and work. Just as significantly, we believe that it is a goal that aligns directly with the ultimate goals of the Basic Education Curriculum Framework set out by Kenya’s Ministry of Education, for Kenyan students to become engaged, empowered and ethical citizens.”
“Andrews University’s global commitment to education, which includes elementary, secondary and university level partnerships around the world, is also reflected in the Ministry of Education’s commitment to continuity and success for Kenyan students, including 100 percent transition from primary to secondary education,” says Dr. Alayne Thorpe, dean of Andrews University’s College of Education & International Services. “We believe that this partnership with the Ministry of Education will offer additional opportunities for Kenyan students to also transition from secondary to university studies in order to continue and succeed in achieving their life and career goals” Ultimately, through this partnership, Andrews University looks forward to better understanding, contributing to and to helping Kenya and its university graduates build for the future in the context of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ‘Big Four Agenda,’ and the ‘Towards 2030 | Kenya Vision 2030’ plan.”
This agreement between Andrews University and the Ministry of Education will offer qualified Kenyan students a special renewable annual undergraduate International Partner Scholarship, or significant discounts on selected graduate and online education courses and programs through Andrews University.
