The Andrews University Chemistry & Biochemistry Seminar Series continues with a presentation from Carolyn E. Anderson, PhD. Anderson is currently an assistant professor at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. Her research is specifically focused on developing new synthetic methodologies for preparing N-alkyl pyridones, including amino acid homologues. N-Alkyl pyridones are interesting motifs due to their prevalence in natural products and their potential use as amino acid mimics. Her presentation is titled "Synthesis of a Natural Product Motif."
