Dr. Jyllian N. Kemsley, "Career Opportunities in Science Writing"

This week's Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry seminar is a LIVE video conference from the West Coast. Our featured speaker, Dr. Jyllian N Kemsley, currently stationed in San Francisco, is the Associate Editor of Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), a publication of the American Chemical Society.  She graduated in 1994 from Amherst College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.  She completed her PhD studies in 2003 at Stanford University working on understanding the role of iron in biological systems. During her final year of graduate school she also completed the science writing program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was awarded a certificate in 2003.  During the next four years she worked as a freelance writer and consultant before joining C&EN as Associate editor in the science, technology & education group.
