Siegfried H. Horn Archaeological Museum
Sabbath afternoons, 3-5 p.m.
The Siegfried H. Horn Archaeological Museum, open every Sabbath from 3-5 p.m. (except during vacations), is home to many important artifacts from the lands in which many Bible events took place. Come see the new Unfinished Egyptian Tomb, one of 10 exhibits on the upper level of the archaeology building near Apple Valley. This new exhibit features Egyptian tomb construction, a real Ibis mummy, ancient Egyptian jewelry and shabit servant figurines. Also on display in the museum are a brick from Babylon with Nebuchadnezzar's name stamped in it, a real Ba'al figurine, Roman nails from the time of Jesus' crucifixion, and much more. The museum also features the authentic Bedouin Tent, a 18th century 3D map of Jerusalem, a model of a Rolling Stone Tomb found at Hisban, and many other reproductions of important artifacts owned by the world's best museums. There are no tours on Sabbath but a helpful graduate student will be on hand to answer questions and provide unique insights as requested. For tours during the week, please call 471-3273 to make an appointment.
