Haitian Student Scholarship Benefit
Agenda | Wed, January 12 @ 04:30 pm - 06:00 pmThe Andrews University Community & International Development Program in collaboration with the Haitian Adventist Graduate Student Association and Parle Club is making a difference in Haiti this semester. The public and campus community is invited to "We Remember Haiti" on Wednesday, Jan. 12. This benefit will raise awareness and funds for a scholarship program at the Adventist University of Haiti. A $10 suggested donation will be collected at the door (cash only) and $15 "We Remember Haiti" T-shirts will be available for purchase. The live program will take place at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University. It will be recorded and rebroadcast on The Hope Channel at a later date.
The January 12 event will mark the one-year anniversary of the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake. The 7.0 earthquake took the lives of an estimated 250,000-300,000 people and left millions homeless.
The program will feature musical performances by Deliverance Mass Choir, an interview with the president of the Adventist University of Haiti and a documentary film highlighting Adventist organizations, relief efforts and the needs that still exist. A silent art auction of student work will also take place. Program coordinators hope to raise $10,000 during the event to put towards their $100,000 overall fundraising goal.
