The Music of Nature is the theme the Choral Invitational Concert hosted by the Andrews University Singers and Chorale under the direction of Stephen Zork. The choral program is on October 19 at 8:00 pm in the Howard Performing Arts Center. It will feature performances from the guest choir Advent Chorale of Brasilia under the direction of Eldom Soares. This award-winning choir from Brazil is on their first tour to the United States of America. They perform primarily Western European symphonic choral works with orchestra. However, the repertoire of this concert, will feature the lighter fare some of the most beloved living composers from North America, South America and England.

The University Singers will perform stirring settings of several folk songs such as “Skylark” arranged by John Rutter, Stephen Foster’s “Some Folks” arranged by Mark Hayes, the Brazilian samba “Aquarela do Brasil” arranged by University Singers’ member Marcelo Martins, and the tender “Good Night, Dear Heart” arranged by Dan Forrest and set to the words of Mark Twain as inscribed on his daughter’s tombstone.

The evening program will conclude with the three combined choirs forming the 130-voice Choral Union for a performance of “Gloria” - the radiant three-movement work for choir, brass, organ and percussion by John Rutter.

The concert is free and open to the public. An offering will be received.
