AICER Symposium Roundtable
Nurturing Spiritual Growth in Public and Private Spaces
Thu, March 27, 2014 @ 05:30 pm - 07:00 pm
The Andrews International Center for Educational Research (AICER) would like to invite you to attend roundtable presentations by the School of Education graduate students on "Nurturing Spiritual Growth in Public and Private Spaces."
Presenter: Cora Clark,
Spirituality in the Public Place
In her book The Soul of Education: Helping Students Find Connection, Compassion, and Character at School, Rachel Kessler (2000) calls for educators to recognize and nurture the spiritual needs of their students. Considering the pluralistic nature of most twenty-first century societies, the question of how spirituality fits (or ought to fit) into the public school curriculum, poses some delicate challenges. As Adventist educators, we too value spirituality and the integration of faith and learning. What can we learn from Kessler’s ideas and methods?
Presenter: Cheryl Logan
Pathfinders' Leadership Training Curriculum
Master Guides serve in many roles within the SDA church, as Adventurer and Pathfinder staff, in children’s ministries, and as pastors. In this symposium we will look at the training given to volunteers who are becoming Master Guides, and the current curriculum transitions.
Date: Thursday, March 27, 2013
Face-to-face participants meet in Bell Hall, Room 013.
