Lakeland Hosts Seminar on Back Surgery

(ST. JOSEPH) – Community members are invited to attend a free physician speaker series event, “Back Surgery – Types, Recovery, Risks, and Benefits,” presented by Christian Sikorski, MD, FAANS, of Lakeland Neurosurgery. The seminar will take place on Thursday, August 6, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at in the Frederick S. Upton Education Center at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, located at 1234 Napier Avenue.

               Back pain is one of the most common medical problems, affecting 8 out of 10 people at some point during their lives, according to the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Sikorski will discuss the various causes and treatment options for back pain, including surgical procedures available locally.

               A Chicago native, Dr. Sikorski received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where he served as Chief Resident. He is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and an Associate of the American College of Surgeons.
