Academic advising and mentoring might be the single most important faculty-student relationship thatexists on a university campus. The research literature suggests that academic advising is an integral part of the educational process and affects students in numerous ways. During the advising process, advisors enhance student learning and development; and advisees have the opportunity to become participants in and contributors to their own education. One of the most important outcomes of the academic advising process is that academic advising fosters individual potential. During this workshop, we shall explore ways to enhance and make more meaningful, the advising/mentoring process.
