The centerpiece of the program is “Christ lag in Todesbanden” (Christ lay in bonds of death) by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by the Andrews University Singers and Chamber Strings under the direction of Stephen Zork. Additionally, the University Singers will present a fresh Easter bouquet of songs including “All Things New” and “Festival Gloria” by Craig Courtney, “Clear Our Heart, O God” by Tom Trenney, “Be Still and Know” by Mary McDonald, “In Paradisum” by Edwin Fissinger and “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” by Joel Raney.

The concert will conclude with the collaboration of the University Chorale and Singers under the direction of graduate choral conducting major Chelsea Lake in her final performance for degree requirements. Featured works under Lake’s direction will include Randall Thompson’s setting of “The Lord Is My Shepherd” and Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken.” Also included are three revivalist songs: “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland, “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal” arranged by Alice Parker and “Tree of Peace” by Gwyneth Walker.
