Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass will perform at the Howard Performing Arts Center on Sunday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The band is composed of three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, percussion and keyboards, playing “the best in sacred brass music.”

In addition to hymn classics, the group performs other styles of music, including jazz spirituals, patriotic marches and more.

The King’s Brass has been together for over 20 years, playing more than 100 concerts each season.

The King’s Brass is directed by Tim Zimmerman, who received a graduate degree in trumpet performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland). Previously, he was a part of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with several orchestras on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Zimmerman was chair of the Music Department for 13 years at Grace College, in Winona Lake, Indiana. He also taught at central Indiana’s Taylor and Wesleyan Universities.

The band’s self-stated mission is “to spread the Gospel and encourage other believers.” Their personal goals also include leading in worship, presenting musical excellence, encouraging brass playing as well as personal development and allowing others to enjoy their tours.

General admission is $15. Andrews University students, staff and faculty may call the box office for a discount. Box office: 269-471-3560.
