“Lift Him Up” is the theme of the annual Easter Celebration Choral Concert presented and directed by Stephen Zork. In addition to performances by Andrews University Chorale and Andrews University Singers, the concert will be a collaborative event featuring three more choirs in residence at Andrews University: Journey under the direction of Marguerite Samuel, Deliverance Mass Choir under the direction of Carl Cunningham, and Girls of Mercy under the direction of Sinegugu Katenga. The redemptive story of salvation will be told through both spoken and sung narratives – portraying Christ’s ministry, His being lifted up on the cross, His being lifted down from the cross, His being lifted into the tomb, and concluding with His being lifted up at His resurrection. The repertoire will cover a wide range of musical styles from Josef Rheinberger’s setting of “Agnus Dei” (Lamb of God) from the Mass in Eb major to Keith Hampton’s arrangement of Richard Smallwood’s “Anthem of Praise.” The combined choirs will conclude the ecclesiastical concert in performances of Glenn Burleigh’s “Order My Steps” and Smallwood’s “Anthem of Praise.” The concert will be a multidimensional visual and aural experience.

A freewill offering will be received.
