Homecoming Events for the Community

Andrews University Homecoming 2017 is scheduled for September 28 to October 1. The community is invited to participate in several activities during this four-day event, including the 31st annual parade, 3rd annual classic car show, international flag raising ceremony, gala concert, 5K/10K run, health and fitness expo and more. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
Horn Archaeological Museum Tour
9–11 a.m.
Take a tour of the Horn Archaeological Museum to hear updates on new renovations and exhibits.

Classic Car Show
1–4 p.m.
Join us for this nostalgic third annual event, hosted by the Andrews University Bookstore, taking place in the Bookstore parking lot. If you would like to enter a vehicle in the show, please contact Alumni Services at alumni@andrews.eduor 269-471-3591. There is no entry fee.

Madaba Plains Project Reunion and Updates
1:30–3:30 p.m.
Attend this Madaba Plains Project 50-year celebration event to hear updates on the archaeological digs at Tall Hisban, Tall al-Umayri and Tall Jalul. There will be opportunity for audience participation in questions and answers, and it will be a reunion for former diggers, their families, friends and sponsors.

Parade
5 p.m.
Viewing bleachers can be found at the curbs of the Howard Performing Arts Center and the Adventist Theological Seminary on East Campus Center Drive. Come out and watch the pageantry of the creative floats, marching bands and fire trucks as they move through campus during this harvest themed parade. The Sammy Arepas food truck will be on-site with vegetarian Latin food offerings. Don’t forget to bring some cash!

International Flag Raising
6:30 p.m.
Join us on the Flag Mall for the International Flag Raising Ceremony. Our campus is world-renowned for the way it reflects the international composition of our world church. This annual ceremony provides a beautiful portrayal of our global family. If you are interested in participating in either the parade and/or flag raising by carrying/raising a flag, email rmay@andrews.eduor call 269-471-3345.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

Gala Concert
8 p.m.
This is a complimentary concert at the Howard Performing Arts Center, featuring the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Gonzalez, and Wind Symphony, conducted by Byron Graves. We welcome guest pianist Wen-Ting Ong. Wen-Tin graduated from Andrews University with her BMus in 2011, and now works at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and at the Boston Ballet. Admission is free and no tickets are required.

Alumni vs. Students Basketball Game
9 p.m.
The Cardinal basketball teams will make their debut as they compete against alumni teams in the Johnson Gymnasium. Be sure and come to cheer your team on. Andrews Cardinal T-shirts and Alumni foam fingers will be available as supplies last.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1

Aviation Annual Fly-In/Drive-In Pancake Breakfast
7:30–11 a.m.
The Andrews University Airpark at 3898 Griggs Drive invites pilots and non-pilots alike to come out for this annual event. Come for a hearty pancake breakfast in one of our large hangars: Adults $7 (children ages 10 and under $3); breakfast will be served until 11 a.m. Stay to check out the interesting aircraft or vehicles that show up. Learn about the services available to pilots and their aircraft as you see the airport facilities and check out our fleet of planes.

5K/10K Harvest Run & 1-Mile Walk
9 a.m.
To register for the race please visit alumni.andrews.edu/run. Adults: $27; AU students and children 12 and under $12; 1-mile walk $12. Check-in is from 8-8:45 a.m. at the Alumni House tent. Parking available at the Andrews Academy parking lot. Come enjoy the beautiful views of Andrews University’s central campus and (for the 10k) challenging forest trails. Honor Credit Union and Liberty Mutual Insurance will be assisting again this year.

Health and Fitness Expo
Sunday, October 1, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Learn about health and fitness information in a fun andinteractive way at this free Health and Fitness Expo, held in the Johnson Gymnasium. Mini workouts, cooking demos, nutritioninformation, games, local health service information,hearing screens, rock wall climbing, information about otheropportunities on the Andrews University campus and more.The first 200 participants will receive a reusable shoppingbag with goodies from our participating sponsors.

The honor classes for Alumni Homecoming this year are 1947, 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1992, 1997, and 2007.
