Funeral Service for Brad Bateman

The funeral service for Brad Bateman will be held at the Buchanan Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday Feb. 25, 2018. Visitation will be from 2–4 p.m. and the service will start at 4 p.m. with a light supper to follow. 

Brad Scott Bateman was born in Peoria, Illinois to Gwen Abs and Jim Bateman on Feb. 26, 1957. He graduated from Peoria Central High school is 1975, then came to Andrews University to study electronic engineering. He graduated from Andrews with an associates degree in electronic engineering (1977) and a bachelor's in electronic engineering in 1979 with the first class of the College of Technology. The day he graduated from Andrews, June 3, 1979, was also the day that he married Gyl Moon. She had graduated in 1978 with a bachelor's in nursing from Andrews University.

Gyl worked for Andrews for 14 years and currently works for Lakeland in St. Joseph, Michigan. Brad and Gyl had three sons, Bradley (BJ), Douglas and Mark. Their sons all graduated from Andrews Academy and Andrews University. Brad worked at Simplex Grinnell in Mishawaka, Indiana, which was taken over by Tyco company. Then he worked for an electronics company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brad enjoyed spending time with his family and with their dog.

Brad had been struggling with Parkinson’s disease for the last few years and on Feb. 22, 2018 he passed away from complications of Parkinson’s, just four days short of his 61st birthday.
