Kaleb Cockrum appointed Humboldt County judgeship
The Humboldt County Public Defender’s office has lost yet another experienced attorney to the bench. Gov. Jerry Brown appointed interim Public Defender Kaleb Cockrum as a superior court judge, replacing Marilyn Miles who stepped down in July.

“It’s an amazing feeling that something that took a 14-month process and hoping the entire time it would come to fruition that it happened,” Cockrum told the Times-Standard on Tuesday afternoon. “It’s funny because I got the call at 8 o’clock at night and I wasn’t expecting it but was very excited to get it.”
