Flood Damage at James White Library

   Library | Posted on July 5, 2018

On Sunday, July 1, James White Library experienced flood damage, due to an HVAC problem, on all three floors of the library.

Thankfully, the damage in the Center for Adventist Research (CAR) was minimal. Only about 10 volumes were affected and have already been treated. However, 25,000 volumes were in the flood zone on the top and main floors.

Books on the main floor in the call number range BS 1593–BS 2735.4 and on the top floor in the call number range JK 6666–LA 339 will be temporarily unavailable while the flooded area is cleaned. Some of these books may be available in our other library collections, such as CAR or the music and architecture branch libraries. If not, they can be requested through Mel Cat (Michigan electronic library) and Inter Library Loan.

Please go to the Information Desk at James White Library for assistance with these materials. We apologize for any inconvenience and anticipate that most of these materials will be available again by Monday, July 16.

James White Library would like to thank Plant Services, Custodial Services, Dining Services and the library staff for immediately responding and assisting with this emergency.
