#ThankfulAndrews

Campus Announcements | Posted on November 16, 2018

In this season of Thanksgiving, we asked members of our Andrews University campus community to take a few minutes and intentionally note their blessings. We are reminded that we truly have so many things to be thankful for…

I am thankful for family, life and strength.

I am thankful that I get to work with a team of people who understand the heart of Lamson Hall and work hard to make it a place where students can feel like they belong.

I am thankful for God’s never-failing love and that He reminds me of that every day even in the most difficult of situations.
—A’Lisa Lashley, Lamson Hall

I am thankful for God’s strength. Even though it has been hard, I have been doing it. It is all by God’s strength.
—Bria Sanford, Student

I am thankful for life. I am so blessed to have the most amazing parents and life.
—Mary Gayen, Student

This has been a difficult year for me on several fronts. I am grateful for supportive friends and colleagues who have helped keep things fun (and bearable).
—Marianne Kordas, James White Library Music Materials Center

I am thankful for kids because through rough times, kids remind us of God’s love.
—Chad Angasan, Student

I am thankful for good health, family and knowing God personally.
—Evelyna Laurie Del Valle, Campus Safety

I am thankful for my life and my wife.
—Denard Fenaud, Student

I am grateful for my job here at Andrews University and how the Lord has led my family in so many ways; for protection, health and wisdom.
—Mark Mondak, Academic Records

I thank the Lord for all of His many blessings to me and my family!
—Denise Collard, Architecture

I have had to jump my car battery over ten times this semester. About three-quarters of the time, Campus Safety has helped me at 7 a.m. to even late hours at 8 p.m. I would like to share my appreciation of Campus Safety for helping me with no judgement, anger or frustration in the times of my frustration. #ThankfulAndrews for Campus Safety.

I am thankful for the ULead Program in giving me opportunities to develop my leadership and professional growth in the residence hall, outside and inside the classroom and in my personal life. They have mentored me since my freshman year. This program has cultivated a safe space where I can learn how to fail, take risks and try new ideas in hopes of doing it better the next time. As a senior, I can say that the ULead Program has deepened my heart for innovation, service and leadership. #ThankfulAndrews for #ULeadAndrews.

When I had a breakdown because of my car problems, Dean Lashley paused what she did, stood up from her desk and gave me a hug and a shoulder to cry on physically. Faculty at Andrews truly care for the students they work with and serve. #ThankfulAndrews
—Tara Thona, Student

Air, sunlight, God’s unfailing mercy, family.
—Dennis Hollingsead, Development

I am thankful to work in a place where we can openly pray with students and colleagues—we are free to speak openly of our faith. I look forward to the day when we will live in that “land that is very far away,” no more sorrow or sadness—no more killing or dying.
—Kathy Demsky, James White Library Architecture Resource Center

I am thankful to work with a loving, caring community of friends and for all the wonderful guests who have come to visit this fall. It takes the help of our entire campus to provide visits for our guests—I am so grateful to each person who has made a difference for us!
—Shelly Erhard, Student Visits

I am thankful for hope. Every day there is hope.
—Anonymous, Student

I am thankful for the team I work with. They put in more time and heart than we could ever pay them for. They are truly doing the work of the Lord!
—Jeannie Leiterman, Andrews Academy

Thank you, Lord, for not giving up on me.
—Willy Diaz, Payroll

I am thankful for my AUGSA family. After my surgery, I have been able to walk without limping.
—Toracia Williams, Student

I am thankful to be alive. I spoke with my sister, and we were reminiscing about when we were young and playing with a gun. The gun went off, and nobody died.
—Aurely Nicholas, Student

Last week, a friend passed away in Brazil. So, I am really thankful for life.
—Jacqueline Barrios, University Wellness

I am thankful for love. I see it on campus. I see it in students. I see it in my wife.
—David Iwasa, University Towers
