Luxton Announces Andrews Bible Commentary Launch

Andrews University Press | Posted on June 18, 2020

On Wednesday, June 17, Andrea Luxton, president of Andrews University, announced the publication of the "Andrews Bible Commentary: Old Testament" in an email message to the Andrews community as follows:

Dear Friends,

Among the many other good things happening this summer, amid challenging times, I am delighted to announce the long-awaited release of one of the most important books in recent Adventist publishing history.

The “Andrews Bible Commentary: Old Testament” is now ready for sale. In celebration of that event, Andrews University is providing a highly unusual 30 percent discount during the Village Church/Michigan Conference Virtual Campmeeting Book Sale June 19–22. See further details about that limited-time sale below.

The “Commentary” was planned by my predecessor, Niels-Erik Andreasen, to be a complement to the highly regarded “Andrews Study Bible” which has blessed the Adventist world since its release exactly 10 years ago. Funded jointly by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and Andrews University, the “Commentary” was produced under the leadership of Ángel Manuel Rodríguez, former director of the General Conference Biblical Research Institute. As the general editor, he led a team of more than 60 Adventist scholars from around the world in producing this landmark work. The Old Testament volume is available now. The New Testament volume will be available in 2021.

This Old Testament volume has received high praise from many. Here’s what world evangelist Mark Finley said about it: “The ‘Andrews Bible Commentary’ is a monumental work produced by outstanding theologians and scholars in a readable, inspirational style that is understandable for the average person. It reveals hidden gems of inspiration as well as deep theological insights. My preaching, teaching and writing will be much richer because of this valuable tool. I will certainly refer to it often and consider it a treasured volume in my library that I would not want to be without. It illuminates biblical truths so that the Spirit of God has free access to speak to our hearts and minds.”

We want the entire Andrews community—students, employees and alumni—to be blessed by this work. That’s why we’re offering this introductory, celebration sale, in cooperation with the Michigan Conference, from June 19–22.

To see a short sales presentation this coming Friday, June 19, you can log onto the Michigan Virtual Campmeeting Book Sale from 4–6 p.m. EDT. There will be major discounts on other important books from Andrews University Press and the Michigan Adventist Book Center.
