(ST. JOSEPH)—Community members are invited to join oncology genetic counselor Samantha Witt and Kathryn Vera, NP, for a free, online seminar titled “My family tree has a history of breast cancer. Am I at high risk?” The seminar will be held virtually on Monday, Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Participants will be emailed a link on how to join and can ask questions during the event.

During the seminar, Witt and Vera will discuss factors that contribute to an individual’s risk for breast cancer including genetics, family history, lifestyle, and personal medical history, and how patients can use this information to stay one step ahead of cancer.

“Being labelled as ‘high risk’ for breast cancer can be scary,” said Vera. “The high risk cancer program at Spectrum Health Lakeland partners with patients on their breast health journey to provide advanced screening and individualized care.”

A valid email address is required to register. For more information, or to register, call 269-927-5361 or visit spectrumhealthlakeland.org/highriskbreast.
