Nominations Open for Excellence in Teaching Award

Students, faculty, staff and administrators are invited to nominate a faculty member for the Daniel A. Augsburger Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2020–2021 school year. In addition to having served the institution for a minimum of three years, the faculty member you nominate should be able to provide evidence that they meet the following criteria:

  • Show commitment to the University’s mission as indicated by effective integration of faith and learning.
  • Engage in the mentoring of other faculty in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Show commitment to lifelong learning in relationship to area-related pedagogy.
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in teaching resulting in effective learning.
  • Stimulate interest of students and encourage them to think imaginatively, critically and independently.
  • Engage issues of diversity in the classroom.
  • Develop relationships with students in nurturing and compassionate ways.
  • Adjust to the needs and interests of students using feedback from assessments.

Faculty who have received the award are not eligible to receive it again. A list of faculty who have received the award in the past can be found through this link.

Please write a narrative of one or more paragraphs describing how the professor you are nominating demonstrates excellence in teaching based on the criteria listed above. Share stories about the nominee’s commitment to students and their learning. How has your nominee influenced students or colleagues personally, professionally or spiritually? Nominations should be sent via email to ctale@andrews.edu.

Students, faculty, staff and administrators are eligible to nominate a faculty member for this prestigious recognition. Nominations close on Friday, Nov. 6.
