Elissa Kido, EdD, is professor of education and director of the Center for Research on Adventist Education K–12 (CRAE) at La Sierra University. She has been an educator for over 40 years, teaching Language Arts, English and English Education from the 5th grade through graduate school. While dean of the School of Education at La Sierra University, she was the principal investigator for the CognitiveGenesis Project, a research study to assess the academic achievement of K–12 students in Seventh-day Adventist schools in the U.S. and Canada. The results of this four-year comprehensive study brought national media attention to Adventist Education and were the impetus for the 2014 PBS documentary film, The Blueprint: The Story of Adventist Education, by Martin Doblmeier. Her current research initiative, DecisionGenesis, focuses on students’ worldview and decision making. For her research and contributions to Adventist Education, she has received the Journey to Excellence Award, the Charles E. Weniger Award for Excellence, the North American Division Award for Excellence and an honorary doctor of pedagogy from Andrews University.
