Death of Steven G. Tarangle

Steven G. Tarangle, MD, 98, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at his home in Berrien Springs.

A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. A full memorial service will be live-streamed at a later date from Pioneer Memorial Church, where Dr. Tarangle was a member. Messages for the family may be left at allredfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be given to Loma Linda School of Medicine Alumni Association, Loma Linda, California.

Dr. Tarangle was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Slava, Alberta, Canada, to George and Marie (Lypka) Tarangul. He graduated from Loma Linda School of Medicine in 1964 and began his medical career as a family physician for nine years in Edmonton, Alberta and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. He practiced emergency medicine at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph, for 14 years, and at the Battle Creek San and the Jackson State Prison for several years.

Surviving are his wife, Esther; two daughters, Stefanie (Bob) Hile and Alana Gonzalez; son-in-law for 31 years, Elvin Gonzalez; grandchildren, Andre and Walter Hile, Amante (Ashera) Gonzalez and Talisa Gonzalez; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Timothy Tarangle; and his sister, Dolly Revega.
