Finding Free Local or Mailed COVID-19 Tests

Dear Andrews University community,

We’ve found a new website on local testing options that is helpful in searching for and scheduling free COVID-19 tests near our campus in Southwest Michigan, including a number of testing options that appear to be available even within the next 24–48 hours (depending on each site’s days and hours of operation), here.

The two southwest Michigan locations offering the most available appointments for booking online are:

  • Benton Harbor, Michigan—Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Appointments can be scheduled here.
  • Niles, Michigan—Hope Community Church. Appointments can be scheduled here.

Incidentally, the Solvhealth website (linked above) can also be used for other COVID-19 testing locations in the United States. To identify those options, simply enter your location to find COVID-19 tests elsewhere in the U.S. Solvhealth also offers a mobile app for those who would prefer that option.

You can continue to look for other testing options through the Berrien County Health Department.

Also, beginning today, Jan. 19, U.S. residents can order four free rapid tests online through this government website: covidtests.gov (information on that site is available in both English and Español). No credit card is required to order those tests to be delivered to any U.S. residential address. Again, please note that there are only four tests available for each address. If you live in University apartments or University residence halls, be sure to include a complete address, including a specific apartment or room number.

Please note that it will take from seven to 12 days for the tests to arrive by U.S. Postal Service.

Our thanks to everyone in the Andrews University community who has reported their COVID-19 test results this semester. Thanks, as well, to those who will continue to complete COVID-19 testing based on your personal vaccination status, symptoms or close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

Students, please note that if you are not yet cleared for in-person classes and need to submit your semester screening, you can do so through this Google form.

Cordially,

Your Andrews University COVID-19 Team
