Summer intern - Architecture

Kil Architecture/Planning is seeking a Summer Intern Architect and Team Player. We are a general practice architecture & planning firm for a wide variety of project types including Commercial (office, municipal, park and recreation, healthcare, libraries, etc.), Mixed-use/Multifamily, Historic Rehabilitation, Preservation, Urban Design/Planning, and Custom Residential Design. Our firm focuses on new construction, renovations, and interior buildouts for a variety of projects. Our work is primarily in Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky.

The successful candidate will have the ability to assist in the development of all phases of design including assessment, programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Furthermore, the successful candidate shall display a solid working knowledge of effective coordination, and communication skills with other team members. The candidate will have the ability to take direction through red-lined drawings, team meetings (face to face and virtual), email and phone communication.

Required Qualifications
• Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
• Prior experience working in a design firm preferred, but not mandatory
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient, but at least familiar with the use of Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit and familiarity with
related tools and processes
• Demonstrated competency in graphic presentation skills
• Must have experience in preparation of architectural design with preference for experience
with contract documents and specifications
• Knowledge of codes and good planning skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active team participant in our office


Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors or master’s degree in Architecture
• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and InDesign, desired but not required
• Local candidates preferred, but not required
