Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is currently accepting applications for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Science, Technology and Policy (STP) Fellowship Opportunity at the Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office.


What will I be doing? You will be provided with the opportunity to participate in LPO Technical and Project Management Division (TPMD) projects and be mentored by experienced TPMD staff. TPMD also supports fellows in pursuing further professional development opportunities, such as trainings, workshops, and conferences. Interacting closely with their TPMD mentor(s), the fellows will learn how to:

 

  • Use sound technical judgment and initiative to resolve the challenges of evolving conditions and other problems relative to the assigned projects and programs
  • Leverage physics or mechanical, nuclear, electrical, chemical, civil, or industrial engineering theories, principles, and practices
  • Analyze situations, identify problems, and probe causes
  • Cooperate with a team, perform assessments, clearly and concisely document assessment results
  • Coordinate with related engineering and physical science fields adequate to effectively discuss technical points and to recommend acceptable engineering solutions to problems
  • Perform and interpret calculations, analyses, and computations for unknown factors or relationships primarily in the matters of factual nature of involving well understood mechanisms

Where will I be located? Washington, DC and Due to COVID-19 restrictions, remote starts to appointments may be approved.
