Sung K. Kwon Receives Recognition From White House

Sung K. Kwon, associate professor of leadership and director of the Master of Arts in leadership with a social innovation concentration, was honored with The President's Volunteer Service Award on Monday, May 2, 2022, for his special service commitment to disaster services. The award was presented by Colonel Wes LaPre, Maryland Wing Commander of Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, on behalf of the White House. 

Kwon has served as chaplain (major) of Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Maryland Wing Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) & Resiliency Officer and Mid-Atlantic Region Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Officer as well as on the CAP DEI National Council.

He says, "I praise God for the recognition, and it is indeed a privilege to serve God and our nation. God is good."
