Help support our community service project!

Have you noticed cats around campus? Do they have a clipped left ear?

Our pre-vet club has been part of a local effort to reduce the number of feral cats reproducing in our area by conducting a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. Led by Jessica Bowen (BS Animal Science 2023, at right in photo), they focused on the Andrews campus, trapping cats beginning in autumn 2022 and continuing this year. The first were two weaned kittens that were successfully tamed and matched with new homes. This year, the mother cat, one young adult male, and three kittens were caught. Dr. Holly Shaffer (at left in photo), owner of Two by Two Animal Hospital and an adjunct faculty member of our department, performed the spays and neuters.

We are raising money to cover the TNR efforts. Please check out the album, and help support our efforts (https://bit.ly/47VM5Bh). There are a few images included in this post, but the album has many others for you to browse through. Many would make great Christmas presents!

If you spot a cat frequenting a given area of campus that is not eartipped, feel free to email me the location details and any photos you may have, as this is how we are keeping track of the campus community cats.
