Autumn is naturally a time for reflection and for giving thanks. At this special time, Andrews University would like to take an opportunity to express our gratitude for our student veterans' service to our country. Our University is thankful and proud that these students have chosen Andrews University to reach their educational goals.

To help honor their service, we are planning to recognize our Andrews University veterans during one of the Tuesday choice options on Nov. 11, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. The program will be held in Newbold Auditorium, Buller Hall.

Additional Veterans Day events:

  • Nov. 10: Pizza dinner by email invitation for Andrews veterans & families (contact veterans@andrews.edu for place & time)
  • Nov. 11: Write a thank-you card for a veteran & get a cupcake, Campus Center Lobby, 12–2 p.m.
  • Nov. 11: Tuesday choice—testimony with Army Veteran Pastor Taariq Patel, Andrews University alumnus, Buller Hall Auditorium, 11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

This time of remembrance and recognition is crucial. Throughout our history, military service members have put on their uniforms to protect our nation’s values and liberties.

For our Veterans Day events, we will focus on the U.S. Veterans Administration’s 2025 theme of "Service to Our Nation." This theme emphasizes the idea that all service in the nation's armed forces is connected, regardless of when or where someone served.

With that theme, Andrews University wants to recognize our student veterans and their fellow veterans who have made a sacrifice to serve our country. As we look back on their service, and on centuries of veterans’ service and sacrifice, we must always maintain a vision for the future. We hope that we can continue to honor all who served, while also focusing on the needs of the next generation of veterans.

If you have had a meaningful experience in your own service to your country and would be willing to share some of those experiences with others, we would love to hear from you. You can share your experiences and memories either in words or images. Please connect with Fares Magesa, our Andrews University veteran certifying official, at veterans@andrews.edu.

We look forward to seeing you at these Veterans Day events. For our student veterans, if you are unable to join us, please accept our grateful thanks with this note.
