40 Years of Service: Frances Faehner
Vice President, Campus & Student Life
For 40 years, Frances Faehner has been the welcoming heart of Andrews University, embodying compassion, wisdom and a deep faith in every role she has carried.
Her journey began in 1985 as dean of women in Lamson Hall, where she quickly became “Dean Faehner” to generations of students. One parent captured it perfectly years ago: “Frances is Christ personified for our residents.” That description has only grown more fitting with time.
When she became vice president for Campus & Student Life, her care extended to all students. They discovered not merely an administrator but a caring mentor who listens carefully, prays sincerely and remembers the small details that make people feel known and valued.
Her colleagues speak of how she recalls their children’s milestones, celebrates their small moments and honors their major ones. Nothing is too small for her to notice or too large for her to wrap her heart around.
Through these years, Frances has consistently lifted others up, choosing grace over hurry and relationships over routines. The truest tribute to her legacy is written in lives: students and colleagues who walk more confidently with God because she took the time to care, to listen and to love.
