40 Years of Service: Lorena Bidwell

   Employee Awards 2026 | Posted on March 2, 2026

Lorena Bidwell is celebrating 40 years of dedicated service to Andrews University. An Andrews alumna, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University before devoting her professional life to strengthening its academic and technological mission.

Beginning her career in academic computing in the early 1980s, Lorena built a reputation for thoughtful leadership and technical excellence. Over the years, she has been widely recognized as a trusted voice of reason, valued for careful research, a strong grasp of policy and a steady approach to problem-solving.

That trust led colleagues to select her for meaningful roles in shared governance and institutional leadership, including service on Staff Senate, the Women’s Scholarship Committee and a Presidential Search Committee.

Colleagues describe Lorena as a servant leader, compassionate, and deeply committed to her team and to Andrews. They share that she leads with integrity, advocates for others and helps people feel valued and connected to the mission of the University and God’s work.

Beyond Andrews, Lorena was a founding member of the Adventist IT Collaborative, which continues to convene annually. She hosted the collaborative multiple times at Andrews, strengthening relationships across institutions.

Congratulations, Lorena, and thank you for your faithful service and enduring impact.
