Faith Engagement: Rogelio Paquini
Assistant Professor of Youth & Young Adult Ministries; Director, MA Youth & Young Adult Ministry Program, Department of Discipleship
We generally refrain from honoring seminary professors with the Faith Engagement Award, as faith engagement is a core expectation of their role. However, we would like to make a special exception to recognize Rogelio Paquini for going far above and beyond his responsibilities as a seminary professor and making a difference in the lives of undergraduate students. Rogelio has played a vital role in helping to start and lead Genesis, a student-led, trilingual fellowship with strong Hispanic roots. He has also been involved in coaching volleyball—significant activities that go beyond the call of duty.
Students consistently describe him as a forward-thinking, deeply spiritual leader who has empowered them to engage in meaningful ministry. As one student simply and powerfully expressed, “Paquini has been like the cool uncle of Genesis. He is the backbone—always there to support us when we need him. Whether it’s fixing a projector problem, giving good advice, or cracking jokes in meetings, he brings such warmth to our team, and we all love him.”
