Sutherland House (rain location: Gallery in James White Library)

Ronald Knott is retiring after 40 years of service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 36 of them at Andrews University. His first nine years (1981–1990) were in various areas of University public relations. He worked intentionally through writing, speaking and programming to shape University culture around the concept of what it means to be an “Andrews Man” or “Andrews Woman.”

After four years at the General Conference, Ron returned to Andrews in 1999 as director of Andrews University Press. During his tenure, most of it based in his beloved Sutherland House, the Press established its reputation as the primary academic publishing house to serve the worldwide Adventist Church. Major projects included the “College Faith” series, the “Andrews Study Bible,” the “Andrews Bible Commentary,” special editions of Ellen G. White books, and many influential books on theology, biblical studies, Adventist history, and faith and science.

He says, “It’s hard to imagine a greater honor than to work for this great institution for so long, and just maybe qualify for the title of ‘Andrews Man.’”
