Employment

Bonuses

Physics workers will be paid Michigan minimum wage plus a bonus when a work report is emailed to physics@andrews.edu within 24 hours of each work period. Also send a copy of the work report to your supervisor.
Bonuses range from $0.50/hour to $2.75/hour based on the sum of the following:

  • Years worked for the department
  • Exceptional quality exceeding departmental standards (+1)
  • Exceptional speed exceeding departmental standards (+1)
  • Exceptional reliability exceeding departmental standards (+1)
  • Special responsibility (e.g. RESA work or supervisory duties) (+1)

The bonus rate is calculated by the bonus level times $0.25/hr plus $0.50/hr for the work report itself being submitted promptly. The bonuses will be paid at the end of the semester or more frequently. Minimum wage is always paid, regardless of whether a bonus is added.

Work reports summarize what you have accomplished. Include a few details like class name, lab number and topic, work type, which assignments graded, equipment setup, repairs made, problems noted, supervisors requests, names of students helped, or problems encountered.

Here’s a sample work report:

  • SGL: Quite a few groups did not realize that on the cookie problem the amount of radiation for each cookie is the same. Because of this, it took them a couple tries to get it. Otherwise, for the most part it was fairly straight forward.
  • Quiz 15 - Graded, entered, returned.
  • Uploaded info from the scanners and put in grades for SGL -SGL planning
  • Worked together to create the SGL for tomorrow.

Email subject must be in the following format: WORK REPORT yymmdd Joe Lastname.

  3. Place the item on the bottom level of the equipment repair cart in HYH 219.
