The Ones That Make You by Gillian Kuhn

We are who we are for a lot of reasons. There are moments that define you, times that shake you, or questions that break you. All of these instances  are fundamental in defining one’s sense of self—they are the ones that make you. The drive behind my work is an enduring dedication to  self-awareness, self-acceptance, and growth. This work is both a personal reflection and a call to action. It encourages introspection, authenticity,  and honest conversations—both with oneself and with others.

My work explores abstract expressionism as a way of visualizing this coming of age process and typography as a way of capturing an inner narrative. It employs automatism, free association and digital manipulation to encapsulate emotional expressions of the self.
