48th Annual Charles Weniger Awards: February 19

Congratulations to V. Valerie Akinyi, the 2022 Andrews University recipient of a Weniger Fellows Student Scholarship.

You are invited to attend the 48th Annual Charles Weniger Awards in person at the Loma Linda University Church or livestreamed at lluc.org/live for the LLUC Vespers on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 4:30 p.m. PST. Since its inception in 1974, 186 awardees have been honored in the equivalent of the Adventist "Oscar" awards.

This year's awardees are Los Angeles Philharmonic's violinist, Lyndon Taylor, who will perform Ravel's "Tzigane," prolific Adventist historian Gilbert Valentine, influential La Sierra University professor Kendra Haloviak Valentine presenting the Clinton Emmerson Annual Address on "The Irony of Orthodoxy," renowned Harvard Professor and Loma Linda University Board member David R. Williams, and Loma Linda University professor/ethicist Gerald Winslow.

Thirteen students from all Adventist universities in North America will be awarded $1,500 Weniger Fellows Student Scholarships with video acceptance speeches. V. Valerie Akinyi is this year's recipient for Andrews. We encourage you to support her video acceptance speech.
