Internship Sites
Andrews University has a clinical dietetic internship with a plant-based focus. We have an optional online MS in Nutrition and Wellness which can be taken with or without the internship. Our sites are throughout the country and include: IL, MI, IN, OH, FL, GA, TX, OK and more! We would love to have you join us for fall of 2023!
Below is a list of available internship sites. Each intern will be placed at only one main health system location for the clinical portion of the internship. Additional travel may be required for certain rotations. We request that each applicant submit three locations in order of preference. We cannot guarantee the applicant will be assigned to their 1st choice. We make every effort to assign the intern to one of their top choices.

Dayton Children's Hospital:
- Dayton Children’s is a 167 bed inpatient hospital located in Dayton, OH with 25 staff RDN/NDTR preceptors
- Our goal is to partner with Andrews University to prepare competent pediatric focused entry level dietitians to fulfill our hospital mission: the relentless pursuit of optimal health for every child within our reach.
- There are two internship positions available at this site.
Clinical Rotations:
- Inpatient: general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, hematology/oncology
- Outpatient: diabetes, Healthy Me (weight management), nutrition clinic (1:1 outpatient counseling)
- Elective: NICU, metabolics, ketogenic diets, lactation, cystic fibrosis, pediatrician office, developmental pediatrics, gastroenterology, transitional care unit, behavioral health
- Community: cooking classes and managing food box resources for our community within Dayton Children’s community teaching kitchen
- Food Service: hospital food service in our cafeteria and patient foods
- Off site rotations: WIC, adult focused clinical rotation, school food service, long term care, and dialysis center

Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
- Lurie Children's is a 364 bed inpatient hospital located in Chicago, IL with 43 staff RDN/NDTR preceptors.
- The goal is to develop proficient pediatric-trained entry-level dietitians to fulfill our hospital mission: Dedication to the health and well-being of all children.
- There are two internship positions to be filled at this site.
Clinical Rotations:
- Inpatient: general pediatrics, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrinology, pediatric surgery, hematology/oncology, intensive care units (neonatal, pediatric, cardiac)
- Outpatient: endocrinology, weight management, general nutrition clinic, gastrointestinal
- Elective: metabolics, ketogenic diets, cystic fibrosis
- Community: partnership with Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities and Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children (CLOCC)
- Food Service: hospital food service through Morrison
- Off-site rotations as needed: WIC, adult focused clinical rotation, school food service, long term care, and dialysis
