History

Andrea Luxton, president of Andrews University since 2016, announced her retirement, effective June 2023, during the May 26, 2022, meeting of the Andrews University Board of Trustees.

Artur Stele, chair of the Andrews University Board of Trustees, is now chairing a search process, overseen by the Andrews University Board of Trustees and guided by University bylaws and working and board policies. Ken Denslow, vice chair of the Board, will serve as the Search Committee’s vice chair. The Search Committee is made up of Board members as well as University faculty, staff, alumni and students (view complete list of Search Committee members here).

The Search Committee will seek to identify and interview candidates by early 2023, with two final candidates recommended to the Board of Trustees at their March 2023 meeting. During that board meeting, the new president of Andrews University will be selected.

That same afternoon, a quinquennial constituency membership meeting of Andrews University will elect a new Board of Trustees for its next five-year term and that new Board will meet for the first time in June 2023.

At the June 2023 board meeting, the newly selected president will be formally re-elected.
