MASTER OF DIVINITY


 

OVERVIEW

  • Program Type: Masters Degree.
  • Program Length: 78 credits (or more if prerequisites are needed)
  • Course delivery format: Various options available including online, intensives, 50% of total credits must be on campus.
  • Program Entry: August, January or May
  • Application Deadline: Admission year-round

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the program, students will have demonstrated their ability to:

  1. Character. Model spiritual humility, maturity and integrity grounded in a living experience with God in joyful assurance of His salvation, nurtured by the sanctifying presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Scholarship. Manifest the practices of a Biblical scholar-theologian engaging the Bible, Christian /Adventist heritage, personal growth and for facilitating the theological competence of others.
  3. Discipleship & Evangelism. Demonstrate personal commitment, passion and essential skills for discipleship and evangelism, while equipping members to carry out ministry within the scope of the local and global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
  4. Leadership. Exercise creative and visionary leadership as a minister and servant of Christ, discerning the needs, spiritual gifts and potential of others, in order to equip and engage in their God-given ministries.
  5. Worship. Facilitate enriching corporate worship that brings diverse peoples into the transforming presence of God.
  6. Administration/Management. Engage the abilities of self and others to strategically steward personal and corporate resources including time, health, finances, property and service in areas of spiritual giftedness.
  7. Relationships. Model effective relationships with people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, character, and persuasions, reflecting the wisdom, compassion, and discernment of Jesus through the work of the Spirit.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Transcripts of post-secondary coursework with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Three Recommendations: church board, religion department (or a major professor) and a general recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose reflecting your family and religious development, sense of calling to ministry, experience in church work, and future goals in relation with the MDiv program.
  • Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF)
  • Spouse’s Statement: If applicant is married.
  • English language proficiency test scores when first language is not English.

CAREER OPPORTNUTIES

    Graduates at the MDiv program may:
  • Be a Pastor in a local congregation
  • Be a campus chaplain (with youth and young adult concentration)
  • Teach Bible at the academy or College level
  • Be a Chaplain (Hospital, Military, School, Prison)
  • Step directly into a Doctoral program (PhD/ThD, DMin, DMiss)
