Scenes from Operas

Presented by the Dept. of Music

On Friday, April 23, 2010 at 6 p.m. in the Howard Performing Arts Center, the Department of Music's vocal area will present selections from various operas. The selections will include solos, duets, quartets, quintets and sextets featuring all of the department's undergraduate and graduate voice majors, voice professors and community singers.

The operas will include The Magic Flute by Mozart, Lakme by Delibes, Romeo & Juliet by Gounod, The Bride of Lammermoor by Donizetti and The Barber of Seville by Rossini, to name a few. Linda Mack, music librarian, will be the accompanist. This evening of beautiful music will include the languages of Italian, German, French and English. The beautiful music will take you to lovely places and you will experience the stylistic progression that developed from the Baroque era to the Classical era, finishing with the Romantic era, and covering the years 1600-1900.
