Dr. Rodney Palmer is an Assistant Professor of Religion, with emphasis in Homiletics and Pastoral Ministry. He also serves as the director of Practicum Studies and the Barnabas Internship program.
He completed his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Prophetic Preaching and Praxis at United Theological Seminary, OH, and is also a Certified Trauma Support Specialist. Palmer was born in Jamaica and pastored in the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for nine years. Prior to coming to Andrews University, he served for three years as a Senior Pastor in the Wisconsin Conference and as a Lake Union Conference Executive Committee member.
Dr. Palmer is married to Alyssa, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School with a Juris Doctor degree. The Palmers are the proud parents of Luke and Emerson.
His research agenda includes multigenerational preaching and trauma-informed approaches to both preaching and higher education. He is also currently pursuing a second doctorate in higher education administration.
