Second Sunday Concert Series

MadAboutSopranos@any-age.edu is this month’s Second Sunday Concert at the Howard Performing Arts Center, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at 4 p.m. The featured sopranos have either graduated from the Andrews University Department of Music, are currently teaching at Andrews, or currently studying toward a degree in music.
Some of the selected repertoire will come from beautiful works such as Romeo and Juliet by Charles Gounod; Lakme by Leo Delibes; Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell; The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; The Tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach; Gianni Schicchi and Tosca by Giacomo Puccini; and Susannah by Carlisle Floyd.
The Andrews sopranos featured in the program include Julia Lindsay, director of choral studies, Marguerite Samuel, Maria-Cristina Martinez, Satara Johnson, Jewel Scott, Carrie Van Denburgh, Cristina Piccardi, Cristy Doria, Alice Hyde, Brooke Jimenez and Marta Elena Sesin. Linda Mack, music librarian, is the accompanist.
No tickets are required for this performance. The Second Sunday Concert Series is sponsored by WAUS 90.7 FM.
