LaBianca Resource Center

Books on a shelf in the LRC

Founded in 2023, the Øystein Sakala LaBianca Resource Center, a branch of the James White Library, provides books and materials relevant to the fields in the social sciences. The center is named for Dr. Øystein Sakala LaBianca, a Senior Research Professor in Anthropology, who has served in the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences since 1980. Dr. LaBianca was instrumental in leading the department as the department chair from 1982 through 1990, spearheading the develoment of the school's graduate program, and developing several educational study tours and student experiences. Dr. LaBianca stepped down from his full time teaching role in the Summer of 2020, transitioning to his current role of Senior Research professor where he continues to be involved in the University through his creative scholarship and research pursuits.

The resource center provides students with books on a wide range of topics related to the programs offered in the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences: Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Humanitarian & Development Studies, Criminal Justice, and more!

Those interested in helping with the growth of the OSL Resource Center are welcome to donate books or funds. Checks or money orders should be made out to Andrews University and can be mailed to the school address listed below. Book donations may be mailed or brought to the department. We are currently working with University Development to accept donations via credit card.
