Biography
Dr. Heaven Fan currently serves on the faculties of Andrews University, University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Valparaiso University, Indiana University South Bend, Anderson University, and a member of the artistic faculty at the MasterWorks Festival. Dr. Fan has been featured on the recordings including the prizewinning album A Ceremony of Carols with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, Ami Maayani’s The Harp Concerti (Fons), The Best of Festival of Carols (Vol. 1), and Festival of Carols(Naxos) with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, soprano Maria Jette, and Grammy Award-winning soprano Sylvia McNair.
A laureate of the national Anne Adams Competition of the American Harp Society and recipient of the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis and Lilly Endowment, Dr. Fan has performed as a featured soloist at music festivals across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As a concerto soloist, she has performed with orchestras including the MasterWorks Festival Chamber Ensemble, Knoxville Symphony, Knoxville Chamber Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony Chamber Players, Anderson Symphony, Anderson University Symphony Orchestra, and the Qingdao Municipal Opera and Dance Drama Theater Orchestra in China.
Dr. Fan’s artistry and contributions have been highlighted in the Argentinian publication Arpas sin Fronteras (“Harps Without Frontiers”), in interviews at the Buenos Aires Harp Week and the MasterWorks Festival, and on the American Harp Society’s inaugural A&E program. She has served as a juror for numerous national and international competitions throughout Asia and the Americas, including Taiwan’s National Harp Competition, the Young Artist’s Harp Competitions, the USA International Harp Competition Ruth Inglefield Composition Contest Preliminary Round, the Marker and Pioneer International Music Competition, and the International Harp Competition of Mexico. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the prestigious USA International Harp Competition.
