Biography

Lilianne Doukhan, Professor of Music, is a professor Emerita of the Department of Music at Andrews University. From 1991 to 2000, she held the Oliver S. Beltz Chair of Worship and Music. She also functions as adjunct faculty for the Department of International Language Studies. Dr. Doukhan was born in Switzerland and began to study piano at age four in Vienna, Austria. For the next 15 years, she pursued musical studies at Conservatories in Switzerland (Zurich and Geneva) and France (Strasbourg). She was the recipient of a First Prize in Piano Performance at the National Strasbourg Conservatory.

Lilianne Doukhan obtained Masters degrees in Humanities (Strasbourg University, France), as well as in Music (Andrews University), and holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Michigan State University. Professor Doukhan has lived on four continents, and lectures and holds workshops on church music all around the world, thus bringing a multi-cultural life experience to her teaching. She is the author of a book on church music, In Tune With God, and acts as editor of a collection of articles on worship. Lilianne Doukhan is married to Dr. Jacques Doukhan and they have one daughter, Abigail.
