How do I make a payment and what types of payment do you accept?

Payments may be made in person, online (Online Payments) or by check/money order through the mail.   Payments may also be made through a transfer request available from our office.  You must have credit on your education account and/or be financially cleared to use this method.

If you are paying by check and you place it in the drop box, make sure to write your Andrews University ID number on it.

When is rent due?  Are there any penalties for not paying on time?

The University Apartments Office does not bill for rent.  Your Lease Agreement is your notice that rent is due the 1st of each month.  Timely rent payment is the tenant's responsibility....A $30 late fee is charged if rent is not received by 4:30 p.m. on the 10th of the month (11:30 a.m. if the 10th is on a Friday).  If the 10th falls on a weekend, the following Monday is the cut-off date.

When should I apply?

Applications and payments should be submitted 6-9 months in advance of the expected arrival date.  Assignments for residency are made, and you will be notified, during the semester preceding your date of arrival.  INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED.

What are the main differences in the complexes?

Beechwood and Maplewood have the same basic layout.  The front door opens to outdoors.  Upon entering the apartment, you will come into the living room/dining room/kitchen area.  The bedroom(s) and bathroom are off of this area.

For Garland apartments you enter the building first and then go to your front door and enter the apartment.  Upon entering the apartment, you will come into the living room/dining room area.  The kitchen is a little down the hall.  The bedroom(s) and bathroom are a little further down the hall.

What does "unfurnished" mean?

An unfurnished apartment comes with a refrigerator and an electric stove.  All other furniture is supplied by the tenant.

What furniture comes in a furnished apartment?  (See "Furniture")

Is there internet access from the apartments?

High speed internet is available for a $100.00 refundable deposit for apartments only.  House tenants wanting high speed internet service should contract through local providers.
